Privacy
The short version
Hang Here has no accounts and collects nothing about you. What you do in the app stays on your device. This policy says what the app does with information, what it does not do, and what the website keeps if you join one of its lists.
What stays on your device
Your place in each book, your saved books, your highlights and notes, the photos you add to highlights, your reading streak, your reading settings, your display name, your favourite book and the covers you add. None of it is sent anywhere, and deleting the app deletes all of it.
Camera and photos
The camera is used only when you add a photo to a highlight, and only after you allow it. Backgrounds and covers are chosen with Apple’s photo picker, so the app sees only the pictures you pick and never your photo library. Every picture is kept on your device.
Notifications
The daily reading reminder is off until you turn it on. It is scheduled on your device by the app itself; nothing is sent from a server, and turning it off removes it.
Downloaded books and the content host
Some books are downloaded rather than included with the app, and the bookclub’s Book of the Month comes from the same place. When the app asks which books it can offer, downloads one, or fetches the Book of the Month, the request reaches our content host. Like any website, the host sees the connection’s internet address and the country it comes from, and uses the country to decide which books can be offered there. The request carries nothing about you or what you have read, the host keeps no logs, and no account or identifier is involved.
No tracking
There are no analytics, no advertising and no third-party software that collects data. The app does not track you across other apps or websites.
The website
hanghere.app sets no cookies and has no analytics. If you join the waitlist, the newsletter or the bookclub, we keep the email address you give us, the favourite book you name if you name one, which list you joined and when. We use it only to write to you about Hang Here: when the app or your book is available, the tester link if you asked for one, and the bookclub’s monthly read. It is stored with Cloudflare, which hosts the site, and the emails are sent through Resend. It is never shared or sold, and we delete it when you ask: reply to any email from us or write to the address below.
Children
The app collects no personal information from anyone, children included. The website’s lists are for adults; an address we learn belongs to a child is deleted.
Changes
If the app ever starts to handle information differently, for example when accounts arrive, this policy will change first and the date below will move. The current version is always shown in the app and at the address where you found it.
